Choosing the right toy - Sheep, Rabbit or Faux Fur

Choosing the right toy - Sheep, Rabbit or Faux Fur

We are often asked about the differences between sheepskin, rabbit fur, and faux fur toys at shows. Our answer is always: It depends on your dog. All dogs play differently, with different bite strengths and approaches to tug-toy play.

Here’s an overview of our furry options:

Sheepskin – Soft but also durable, sheepskin toys hold up well to play while offering a natural scent that dogs love. This is a versatile choice and better for more vigorous chewers, although not indestructible.

Rabbit Fur – Extremely soft and enticing, but more delicate, making it better for light chewers and supervised play. It can easily rip, and we add extra stitching to secure it when making each toy.

Faux Fur – A synthetic alternative that mimics real fur, offering durability while being easier to clean and maintain. We have faux fur in tonnes of colours, which makes it a great choice if you want an alternative to fur for your dog’s toy.

To keep your toys in excellent condition, we recommend washing them carefully and gently brushing out any dried mud, sand, or dirt.
